It's like drinking from a firehose as you get A LOT of conflicting information
You are hearing conflicting information from online resources, family members, and other parents in the car pool lane, while sitting on the bleachers or while exchanging notes at school meetings. Each sources seems to be providing different information, but what is true?

The Admissions Process Continues to Rapidly Evolve Creating Uncertainty
Â
The ever-changing landscape has created so many questions and uncertainties. Should your student take a standardized test? When should they apply? How do we find scholarships? You feel like the little that you did know about how college admission is no longer true.
Hi there, I'm Kathy!
Â
I began my journey as an independent educational consultant because it combines my expertise in personal branding and higher education with my passion for coaching students. I was drawn to this work because I believe in the power of education. As a first-generation college student, I know firsthand how education can change a life.
In my career, I’ve had the privilege of storytelling for some of the world’s most well-known and beloved brands such as Kraft, KitchenAid and Kellogg’s. Also, I coached and mentored students during my tenure at the University of Michigan. Feeling a pull toward more purpose-driven work, I left my corporate life to combine my storytelling, coaching and mentoring skills in service to students defining their stories.
More About MeIn addition to my professional credentials and years of education and training, I've walked in your shoes as a parent of two college students.
I can empathize with you at every step of the process. I know what it's like to take the campus tours, build the college list, and have your child agonize over the wait and rejoice over the acceptances. And, I know the bittersweet feelings that are present on move-in day.

Empowering learners, shaping futures: Your trusted educational consultant

I've earned Professional membership status which is reserved for consultants who have demonstrated a professional mastery with years of experience and a master's degree.

I studied the theory and practice behind human performance that serves to create empathetic and trusted relationships with my clients.

In choosing a HECA member you’ll work with a consultant who is dedicated to upholding ethics and standards, committed to keeping abreast of evolving admissions trends and is connected to a network of consultants.
It feels like you need a college degree just to be able to navigate the college admissions system!
Here’s the good news: you don’t.
In less time than you think, you can understand and navigate the entire process…and start your teen on the right path to success.

You are feeling overwhelmed and don't know where to start with helping your teen.

You hear conflicting information and don't know what to believe or who to trust.
You are hearing conflicting information from online resources, family members, and other parents in the car pool lane, while sitting on the bleachers or while exchanging notes at school meetings. Each sources seems to be providing different information, but what is true?

You are feeling anxious as Covid has upended a process that was already confusing.
There are stories of incredibly talented students being denied at many of the school to which they applied. Covid has created so many questions and uncertainties. What Parents Are Saying...

A look at the modules inside the program

1.
Setting You Up For Success
I developed this course to provide parents who want to help their students navigate the college application process an affordable and trustworthy resource. In addition to this course for parents, I help students tell their authentic stories in their college applications through my private practice, Start With Your Story Educational Consulting.

2.
Admissions Stress: Why it Exists and How Do We Manage It?
In our first stop on your course journey, we are going to address how the college landscape has changed over the last three decades. This will help inform why students feel pressured by the experience. I will then touch upon strategies to help create less stress and bring more mindfulness into the process. Finally, the module will end with a detailed timeline of the admission process.

3.
How To Develop An Admission Strategy
Too often, strategy is missing in the college application process. Families that recognize the value of having a strategy and make the commitment of executing upon it, fare much better that those who meander without priorities or vision. This extensive module includes lessons on the following topics:
- Thoughtful curriculum planning is one of the most important ways that your student can be prepared for applying to college while at the same time living a purposeful high school experience.
- Two-thirds of all four-year colleges in the U.S. are now test optional. Should my student test?
- What colleges are looking for outside the classroom?
- How to decide if early action or early decision is right for my student.

4.
How to Build A College List for Fit and Finances
In this module we will be focused on helping your student build a college list. Often students will start this process by creating a list of schools they want to attend without ever thinking through who they are, their values, strengths, opportunities or what they want to from their college experience. Also, often families don't spend enough time discussing finances and a budget at the onset of the college journey. This can often lead to frustration and disappointment.
Given these dynamics, this module will begin with student self-awareness and end with two lessons on financial aid and a lesson on creating a balanced list.

5.
Managing the Application Process
This module will cover all that you need to know to help your student submit their college applications. We will review the different types of applications as well as who is responsible for submitting each piece. Finally, we will close the module by reviewing how your student can approach teachers and counselors for impactful recommendations.

6.
How to Use Storytelling to Stand Out on College Applications
In this module, I will focus on how to use storytelling to stand out in the college admission process. A college application should do so much more than document GPA, test scores and list student involvement. It should tell a story. A good story connects emotionally with its audience, creating a deeper connection. Admission officers want to be able to picture a student on their campus and know that they will thrive. Stories can help engage admission officers and communicate why your student is the perfect fit.

7.
The Applications Are In! Now What?
Once your student has submitted their applications it is time to celebrate! They should take a breath and a sign of relief. No doubt that it has been an incredibly challenging journey for everyone involved.
There’s so much to this course that it’s difficult to capture it all in these breakdowns! But don’t be daunted – it’s all designed to be worked through in easy to manage sections, so both you and your teen become familiar with the process and gain confidence throughout.

S.B., Sophomore at the University of Michigan
Excellent advisor! Mrs. Noble was extremely helpful every step of the way. The process was very comprehensive, beginning with a search for areas of future professional interests and a compilation of schools that supported these interests. Her experience in the field proved very beneficial in helping me to fine tune all essays, knowing exactly what the each school was looking for. Kathy was constantly there to remind me of upcoming meetings, testing days, college visits, and application dates. Her advising helped me to find immense success in the application process as I was granted admission into all 8 schools I applied to, including; The University of Michigan, Villanova University, and the University of Miami (FL). If you are in the market for a college advisor, I whole heartedly recommend Kathy Noble!

What Students Are Saying...

H.M., Freshman at Dartmouth College
I cannot recommend Kathy Noble enough as a college counselor. As someone who often overthinks and is rarely satisfied, the highest praise that I can give her was that by the time I submitted my applications, I was proud and happy with the final product. Her edits on my essays were thoughtful, specific and honest, which helped me first discover, then adjust, and finally hone in on the message that I wanted to give to schools. I also had many questions along the way and she always answered them thoroughly and quickly. The single instance where she did not have the answer to my question, she went the extra mile by waiting on hold for hours and consulting all of her colleagues. Thanks to her, I was able to get into my first-choice school, early decision, which shortened the entire process and saved me hours of work.

B.K., Junior at Kalamazoo College
The college admissions process is terrible, but having someone who knows all the ins an outs of the college admissions office is absolutely crucial to your success. Cue Kathy Noble. Her knowledge of all things admissions made my journey through the application process thousands of times more manageable. She used a structured system that was flexible to my specific needs as a new applicant. This system allowed for me to tackle and finish areas of the process faster and much more in depth, while also allowing me to discover new facets of my personality. Throughout my time with Kathy, she was focused on my best interests. She was honest and constructive when helping with essays, and when analyzing college statistics. Having Kathy as a consultant was one of the best choices I could have made regarding my application process. I highly recommend Kathy Noble to those looking to get to know themselves, and looking to nail the college application process.

S.B., Freshman at the University of Chicago
It’s super easy to talk with Kathy. When I was brainstorming ideas for my essays, our conversations helped me organize my thoughts and come up with fresh ideas. I had a LOT of questions about the entire admissions process and Kathy was always responsive and knowledgeable, whether I was asking about specific colleges or the logistics of filling out the Common App or even interview strategies. One of the most useful things Kathy helped me with was deconstructing essay prompts so I could focus on what the colleges were actually asking. When I finished writing an essay, her feedback was honest and constructive. I'm very happy with my college admissions outcome and I'm grateful for the support Kathy gave me throughout the long application process.

Our Clients Say it Best

Hire Kathy Noble. Just do it! She is worth 10x the amount that she charges. We only wish we had done it sooner because it would have removed some of the stress we felt going through the college admissions process. We had been through the journey with our older son several years prior and thought we would be able to handle things with our younger son on our own.
Although our younger son had outstanding grades and test scores, we needed help explaining some unusual circumstances. Kathy is a gem and understands the passion and the heart of both a parent and a child trying to navigate the college admissions process. Thank you, Kathy!

B.K. – Student at Kalamazoo College

Kathy Noble is a find. Her commitment to helping high school students find the right college shines through. We hired Kathy at a fairly late point in the process. Kathy got to work. We had a fairly specific and somewhat atypical list of requirements, and Kathy provided us with a list of schools that fit our son’s requirements in a jiffy. She responded to every email within 24 hours. She patiently helped my son slog through all the tedious college platforms. She – very diplomatically – explained to my son that he might want to rethink (well, totally redo) his college essay given its downer theme. Not the easiest message to communicate, and she did it deftly and sensitively.
Let’s face it – the college selection and application process are overwhelming. If you are looking for help, hire Kathy. She is friendly, responsive, knowledgeable, professional and above all passionate.
